Communicating with your Furnace.

That may sound weird, but your furnace will not tell you when it is about to break down.  Now that we are headed into the dead of winter it would be nice to know what it is “thinking”.  Most furnace problems that occur in your home are preventable and here are a couple of tips to follow to keep that reliable appliance from breaking down at the worst time.

Suffocation.  Just like humans, furnaces can literally suffocate from restricted air flow.  If you do not close air vents and change your filter regularly it can put a strangle-hold on your furnace.  There is also the possibility of simple neglect.  If you run the unit without a filter and do not have it checked periodically you could be asking for trouble.

The thought of a failing furnace in sub-freezing temperatures around Colorado Springs is frightening!  We at Altitude Heating and Air are here to help.  If your furnace breaks down this winter, we will come to your home as quickly as possible to get it back up and running.  Please give us a call anytime at (719) 209-4955.

The Strange Dichotomy Between Snowfall and Colorado Springs.

I know that tourists must think that we get measurable snowfall every Christmas.  For Colorado Springs, this is NOT necessarily the case!  In the city we do not usually get large amounts of snow.  Bad news, even if we do it is usually gone in a day or two.  Even looking ahead to January, it is not uncommon to have temperatures in the 50’s.

Hey locals, don’t tell everybody that we have mostly clear roads this time of year, but some of the greatest skiing in the U.S. is just a drive away.  As a matter of fact, the most snowfall that we have ever had on Christmas Day was just 2.3 inches.  Back in 1982 there was a record 7 inches of snow on the ground…surprising?

White Christmas or not, we at Altitude Heating and Air will continue to serve the Colorado Springs area for all of its residential and commercial HVAC needs during this holiday season and in the year to come.  From our family at Altitude Heating and Air to you and your family Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Keeping Up With Ever-changing Technology.

The HVAC business is constantly evolving.  It is very much like other industries in this country.  Those companies who live in the last century are doomed to fail.  Reliability and experience are as important as they ever were…make no mistake about it.  These days, being on the cutting edge of technology is just as important.

Here are some eco-friendly innovations that have changed the industry –

1.  The software is changing dramatically
2.  The innovation of ice-powered air conditioners
3.  Geothermal heat pumps
4.  Thermally driven air conditioning

This is just the tip of the iceberg.  When you call someone to help you with heating, ventilating, and air conditioning needs you want to have the peace of mind of knowing that you are calling the best in our area.  In and around Colorado Springs that company is Altitude Heating and Air.  See for yourself.  Next time call (719) 209-4955.
