Winter Will Be Over Soon.

You may or may not be pleased, but winter is nearly over around these parts. May we suggest calling Colorado Springs home heating system check up professionals Altitude Heating and Air? What? Why now? Well, just because the weather is warming up does not mean you should not be thinking about your furnace anymore.

Here are some reasons for a furnace tune-up –

1.  Furnace systems accumulate dust and need to be cleaned.

2.  Safety first.

3.  Keep your warranty intact.

4.  Maintenance is a whole lot cheaper than a major repair.

Everyone knows that last point. That is why Colorado Springs HVAC experts Altitude Heating and Air wants to check your furnace - not necessarily repair it. For most of this century people who own homes in the Colorado Springs area have relied on Altitude Heating and Air for their heating and a/c needs. Just go to altitudehvacco.com. Turn it Off…Keep it on.

Around this time, many Colorado Springs homeowners ask themselves, “Do I need to turn off my furnace in the Spring?”  We’re not talking about putting the thermostat in the “off” setting.  We’re talking about turning off the pilot light, completely shutting the system down, and not worrying about it again until it gets cold out.

Here are some pros and cons –

1.  It saves money
2.  It saves energy
3.  You won’t accidentally be heating your home this summer

On the other hand –

1.  Just remember to turn it back on this fall
2.  Maybe your furnace is hard to reach
3.  Will there be another cold snap this spring?

Why Repair My Furnace in the Summer?

Most people aren’t thinking about winter, much less whether or not they may need to replace their furnace before Colorado cold weather strikes.  While it may seem a bit early to begin thinking about replacing your furnace, now is precisely the right time if your current unit needs replacing.

There are several reasons why.

1.  It saves money.  Retail stores are discounting last year’s models.
2.  Convenience…before the rush.
3.  You have time to research options now, not when the temps hit the freezing mark.

Do you suspect that come winter you are going to need a new furnace?  Why not pull the trigger now?  Call the HVAC experts at Altitude Heating and Air.  They have served Colorado Springs and the surrounding area’s heating and air conditioning needs for many years.  Get ahead of the curve before fall.  Call Altitude Heating and Air at (719) 209-4955.

Communicating with your Furnace.

That may sound weird, but your furnace will not tell you when it is about to break down.  Now that we are headed into the dead of winter it would be nice to know what it is “thinking”.  Most furnace problems that occur in your home are preventable and here are a couple of tips to follow to keep that reliable appliance from breaking down at the worst time.

Suffocation.  Just like humans, furnaces can literally suffocate from restricted air flow.  If you do not close air vents and change your filter regularly it can put a strangle-hold on your furnace.  There is also the possibility of simple neglect.  If you run the unit without a filter and do not have it checked periodically you could be asking for trouble.

The thought of a failing furnace in sub-freezing temperatures around Colorado Springs is frightening!  We at Altitude Heating and Air are here to help.  If your furnace breaks down this winter, we will come to your home as quickly as possible to get it back up and running.  Please give us a call anytime at (719) 209-4955.
