Ahhh…That Feels Better.

Very soon now (if not already) you will reach for your Colorado Spring’s home’s thermostat.  You will want a cool, comfortable flow of fresh air when you turn on the air conditioning.  If you do not receive the desired affect you know that you will want your home’s a/c fixed YESTERDAY!

Here are 4 things YOU can do before cranking up the a/c –

1.  Check your air filter…it is likely that your furnace shares the same filter.
2.  Clear the outdoor unit of leaves, dirt, sticks, etc.
3.  Make sure you changed the setting from heat to cool…you’d be surprised.
4.  Schedule yearly maintenance for your a/c unit.

That last one is a given if you expect high performance throughout another Colorado Springs summer.  The air conditioning professionals in our area are located at Altitude Heating and Air.  For your home’s heating and air conditioning needs always think first of Altitude Heating and Air.  Just call (719) 209-4955.

Turn it Off…Keep it on.

Around this time, many Colorado Springs homeowners ask themselves, “Do I need to turn off my furnace in the Spring?”  We’re not talking about putting the thermostat in the “off” setting.  We’re talking about turning off the pilot light, completely shutting the system down, and not worrying about it again until it gets cold out.

Here are some pros and cons –

1.  It saves money
2.  It saves energy
3.  You won’t accidentally be heating your home this summer

On the other hand –

1.  Just remember to turn it back on this fall
2.  Maybe your furnace is hard to reach
3.  Will there be another cold snap this spring?

Here at Altitude Heating and Air we want you to be an informed homeowner.  We have been serving the Colorado Springs area’s heating and air conditioning needs throughout the 21st century.  We are just a phone call away when you have any HVAC dilemmas around your castle.  Just give us a call at Altitude Heating and Air…that’s (719) 209-4955.

I Didn’t Ask for a Cold Shower.

So, you are increasingly having trouble getting hot water while taking a shower.  Now, usually you’d blame this on the hot water heater.  You have become increasingly aware that you’re getting plenty of hot water everywhere else around your Colorado Springs area castle.  It COULD BE that the anti-scald device is too high, or there’s a bad shower mixer valve.

If it happens to be an incorrectly set scald device, then you could take the handle or head off.  Turn the device to the right and check the temperature.  If your shower mixing valve is the root of the problem, then a disassembly of the entire unit may be necessary and you may want to take off your DIY hat and call a professional.

The professional plumber to call in the Colorado Springs area is Altitude Heating and Air for your plumbing, air conditioning, and home heating needs.  Altitude Heating and Air is almost always the right choice before you roll up your sleeves and perhaps make things worse.  In Colorado Springs rely on Altitude Heating and Air at (719) 209-4955.

How Did you Finish the End of the Summer of 2019?

It’s hard to imagine that another summer will soon be upon us here in Colorado Springs.  As it pertains to your HVAC system, the decision-making process of transitioning seasons becomes important.  Unless you’re a trained HVAC technician, it can be tough to tell whether a malfunctioning A/C needs new batteries in the thermostat or a more extensive repair.

Here are some signs to look for now –

1.  Your air conditioner is more than 10 years old.
2.  Last summer it started to become cranky.
3.  Energy bills are way up.
4.  R-22 Freon…no longer available in the U.S.
