Sump Pumps in Winter.

We in the Colorado Springs area know that winter will soon hit in full force.  When it does, is your sump pump ready for the Rocky Mountain weather ahead?  It is important to note that your sump pump will run occasionally during the winter months as melted snow tends to accumulate in the sump pit over time.

Here is the iffy part.  If your sump pump runs irregularly and continues for an extended period…you probably have a problem.  Did you remove its flex hose?    The flex hose connects to your sump pump’s plastic drain piping somewhere along the exterior of your home and is intended to direct sump water away from your home’s foundation.

Problematic…you bet it is!  Do you want to be responsible for all of this yourself or would you like to have a Colorado Springs sump pump expert troubleshoot it for you?  That is why we are here.  We are Altitude Heating and Air solving and preventing HVAC issues throughout Colorado Springs.  Please give us a call at (719) 209-4955.

It’s a Gas, Gas, Gas.

No, it is NOT!  Not when you have a gas leak in your home.  Stating the obvious, gas lines are very important for every household. No matter if you are living in an apartment or in your own home, there needs to be a proper and uninterrupted supply of natural gas to run water heaters, kitchen counters, ovens, fireplaces, etc.

Why should you have periodic gas inspections?  Well, a natural gas (or propane) is a highly combustible and flammable product that can easily catch fire.  Even a tiny, innocuous gas leak can result in a huge explosion that can cause serious damage to life and property.  Add to that, the gas used for combustion is hazardous and should NEVER be inhaled.

Trust ONLY a professional to properly inspect your residence for a possible gas leak.  In Colorado Springs and the surrounding area that’s Altitude Heating and Air Inc.  Visit our new website at www.altitudehvacco.com to see the myriad of plumbing and HVAC services that we offer.  Then, give us a call at (719) 209-4955.

It Looks Like Sump Pump Season.

Spring rains can bring some serious flooding to the Colorado Springs area.  You had better have the right sump pump in your castle.  The depth of the water tables may require sump pumps to discharge the water before it causes damage. Sump pumps remove excess water from any place that might collect unwanted amounts of water.

Sump pumps are available with pedestal mounts or are submersible.  Make sure you select a pump for the power needed to empty the area of water.  You may want to opt for a pump with a capacitive switch for hassle-free automatic operation.  Select a sump-pump with a vertical switch that mechanically turns the sump pump on or off automatically.

Those are just a couple of tips to help you along the way.  The best move of all, is to choose the right team to install it.  In the Colorado Springs area that means Altitude Heating and Air Inc.   They have been Colorado Springs’ sump pump installation experts for many years.  Give them a call today at (719) 209-4955.

Dispose of Yucky Stuff.

During the summer months your garbage disposal may get quite a workout.  Kids are running in and out of the house and putting heaven knows what down the sink.  Are you ready for that?  Let’s start with the cardinal rule.  Never, never, never put your hand down the drain and come in contact with the disposal!

If the disposal will not turn on and it is not making a humming sound, then there may an electrical problem.  If it IS plugged in and is not turning try pressing the reset button.  You may have a stuck flywheel because something is lodged in it.  And then, there is the possibility that the unit is leaking.  That presents a whole new set of challenges.

We eliminate the guesswork.  Call Altitude Heating and Air Inc.  We are proud to be Colorado Springs experts in troubleshooting, repairing, or replacing your home’s garbage disposal.  For any plumbing problems that may occur in these busy summer months to come please keep our phone number handy (719) 209-4955.

Heating and Air Conditioning Installation.

As the seasons transition in the Colorado Springs area we can turn our attention to either/or…air conditioning and heating systems for your home.  For instance, installing a central air conditioning system should take two technicians six to eight hours to install.  Depending on the duct work, it could take a bit longer.

Knowing whom to hire to install your new system and the right one that fits perfectly into your castle are the paramount questions to ask.  Here is a review you might consider.  “We had our entire furnace replaced and new central air conditioning installed by this company. The level of professionalism and quality of work is something you don't see very often, these days.”

Wow!  Where did that review come from and to whom did it pertain?  It was written about Lonny and his crew at Altitude Heating and Air Conditioning.  It does not get better than that.  Altitude Heating and Air is one of Colorado Springs’ premier heating and A/C experts.  Give Lonny a call for an estimate at (719) 209-4955.

It’s Sump Pump Season!

When the rains come to Colorado Springs your sump pump becomes paramount.  The maintenance and repair of your sump pump is vital.  Your basement sump pump sits quietly all year, then comes the rainy season in the Colorado Springs area and suddenly it becomes the most important part of your home preventing basement flooding.

Here are some common checking tips for your sump pump:

1.  Check the float.  This is where it all begins.
2.  Clean and scrape out the sump pit…removing loose items that have built up
3.  Check the impeller.  Debris goes through the screen and jams the impeller
4.  The electrical connection needs to be plugged in properly with no fraying in the cord.

These steps and more are something that a sump pump repair and replacement expert will perform.  We invite you to visit our brand new website at www.altitudehvacco.com.  Here, you will discover the variety of services that we provide in the Colorado Springs area.  Then give us a call for in-home service at (719) 209-4955.

Amana vs. Goodman.

No, it’s not the title of the newest Super-Hero movie.  It is a tutorial about two of the top air conditioning systems on earth.  If you heard the truth from someone who offers both it could help you make a better decision.  Whichever one you choose is not the most important question…who does the installation is.

This may come as a surprise - Amana and Goodman are essentially one in the same.  You see, Goodman purchased Amana about 20 years ago.  They are now actually manufactured in the same plant located in Houston, Texas.  Goodman has a SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating of 18.  Amana has a SEER rating of 18 as well.

Here is the bottom line.  Save yourself a lot of time and research and make one call.  That call is to Altitude Heating and Air Conditioning.  They are Colorado Spring’s premier Amana and Goodman air conditioning system dealers.  See how easy that was?  Just give Lonny a call for a free estimate.  His number is (719) 209-4955.
