It doesn’t seem like a topic that we should be addressing in
August, but in Colorado Springs you never know when you will be turning on your
home’s heating system for the first time.
It could be as soon as September!
If you finished the winter of 2018 knowing that your home’s heating unit
was nearing its last legs, then you should pay attention to it soon.
Here are some tips toward preparing your home’s furnace for
fall/winter –
1. At the first snap,
turn on your furnace. You should hear
the hot air kick on.
2. Install a fresh
air filter.
3. Clean the heat
exchanger every fall.
4. Test the igniter
switch.
5. Inspect the carbon
monoxide detectors.
Is it too early to think about the Colorado cold? I don’t know, but I do know this…you don’t
want to be caught freezing your tail off because you waited until the
temperature dropped to around freezing!
